Seniors Label Class “Mosts”

King of Prussia Courier

June 1972

“Old Grads” may be interested in knowing that high school seniors of the Seventies are still voting for peers “most likely to succeed…” But it’s way down on a list of 29 other superlatives that appear to be more with-it in 1972.

Upper Merion High School’s Class of ‘72 meted out the annual superlatives at a recent Class Awards Day assembly and signs of the times included the boy (and girl) with shortest hair…god and goddess of wine…best party host and hostess. A shovel is still a shovel – but, today it’s silver. But what’s a “motor head”?

On Class Day, the “Viking” of the 1971 grid season, Rick Myers, read out the awards at the Upper Merion lectern. (A member of the Class of ’72 himself, Viking Myers personified most enthusiastic boy.”)

Here’s how the kudos fell: cutest couple, Barry Rudegeair and Debbie Felton; most femine, Kathy Eng; most masculine, John Solar; goddess of wine, Louise Powell; god of wine, Gary Senkow; best party hostess, Amy Heindel; best host, Jeff Assaud.

Class clown, Joe Morris (boy) and Pat Mills (girl); tallest boy and girl, Jeff Pethick and Anne Edwards; shortest, Ed Fastow and Angela Dominick; best dressed, John DiBonaventure and Kathy Eng; shortest hair, Paul Sarelakos and Pat Storti; longest hair, Keven Douglass and Kathy Loughlin.

Silver shovel, Franny Powers and Janet Chambers; quietist, Parker Boyd and Janet Carlson; loudmouth, Larry Tambone and Donna Miller; most athletic, Marty Riehl and Rose Gentile; prettiest eyes, Dan Rooney and Joan Smoczynski; bookworm, Rich Raubertus and Chuie-Lan Yuen; biggest trouble maker, Gino Battista and Janice Epstein; friendliest, Kurt Meyers and Cindy Ashe; most likely to succeed, Vic Berry and Jane Kenney.

Class flirts, Al Caroselli and Annalie Hudson; sexiest, Dick Chapman and Marty Holeczy; town crier, Ed Dube and Denise Flynn; motor head, Joe Carrig and Peggy Krier; hard guy, Dave Knighton and Robin Matzik; most gullible, John Puzio and Jackie Murphy; most enthusiastic, Rick Myers and Toni Tyson; most sarcastic, Pete Marcy and Louise DiMarcello.
